Window Suncatchers

☺Draw with a Sharpie an outline of any shape you want, (you will need two shapes) you can have the older preschooler to cut it or you can do it yourself.
☺Then, have the students cut stripes or shapes out of tissue color (place them on a tray so they won't be on their way).
☺Peel the white paper backing of the contact paper.
☺Have the children decorate the clear contact paper as they want.
☺When finish, place over the colored tissue a layer of the same shape of contact paper, press it down (like a sandwish).
☺Make a hole with a hole punch, string some yarn and hang it by the classroom window, this is a simple activity and the kids will enjoy!

Color Beads

Beads make a great color activities for kids of all ages. Get some different colored craft beads, some plastic string or fishing line and thread the beads on to make some fun and unique jewelery, book markers or anything you can think of. You can also use craft foam and cut into fun shapes. Then punch a hole in the middle of your cut out and string them on to make some interesting items.

Tie Dye Coffe Filter Snowflakes

This is similar to the regular color activity but just using a coffee filter.  Fold your filter several times.  Then cut out some triangle shapes and other shapes to create a snowflake.  Unfold the filter and dampen it with water.

Use the same method as with the paper towel placing several drops of food coloring until you have the look you want.

Let it dry and then hang it up and enjoy the colorful snowflake decoration.  These make great Christmas craft ideas or winter crafts projects.

Tie Dye Paper Towels or Coffee Filters

 Creating a tie dyed art project is great for learning colors. Here are two ideas to create your colorful art work.


Tie Dye Paper Towels or Coffee Filters;


This will get a bit messy so make sure to protect your clothes and work space.  Dampen a paper towel and lay it flat on your work surface.  Using a straw or eye dropper, place a few drops of one color using *food coloring.

Repeat this with the next color overlapping just a bit with the first color.  If you used two primary colors (blue, yellow or red) you will create a new color when the two colors come together on the wet paper towel.

Keep repeating dropping food coloring on your paper towel until you have the tie dyed look you want.  Let this masterpiece dry and then pin it up on the fridge to show off your color activity.

Colour Collages

Create a collage based on a specific color theme. You can use craft supplies like ribbon, yarn, paper, glitter glue and more. Plus add some fun items like buttons, sticks, leaves, feathers and anything you can find that fits your color scheme.

For spring; try a yellow color collage with flowers. Spring brings all kinds of new colors so make several collages with a different color for each theme.

Summer time; is great for the color green. With all the new green grass, green bushes and trees, it's the perfect time to go green with your collage.

For Autumn; the colors red, orange, brown and even deep purple are great with all the leaves changing. Orange is of course the perfect color theme around Halloween.

For Winter; try cool blue or white themed collages for this color activities idea. Around Christmas time you can make a red and green themed collage bringing all the bright colors of Christmas to your color activity project.
